Basingstoke Bulls 1 Vs Farnborough Jets 1
Everest College

Another tough match with some untested divisions and a debut for Nicola! Farnborough had a strong team with some experienced players and a summer signing from the folded Woking team.

The first half was tough finishing 11-4. We showed more discipline then we did in previous matches and were more aware of what Farnborough were doing and adjusted our own play.

Vlad gave us some pointers at half time and we tried to go back to basics with moving the ball about and making our own opportunities rather than hopeful shooting. We managed to have a more respectable 8-5 2nd half.

We have now had a couple of decent performances against some tough teams so with a bit of practice and consistency in the team I’m sure the results will start to go our way. Big shout out to Nicola in her first match, she did really well and the first of many matches. Maria did a great job in her first 1st Team match of the season and was picked out for praise by the opposition. Holly had an accident in the 2nd half and had to come off so thank you to Lucy who came to support and quickly had to put her kit on (Holly is now resting up with her foot up leaving me to cook a Roast for the first time ever………wish me luck.)  Pedro was back in action and shook the Farnborough team up, I don't think they knew what hit them and Steve scored a cracking long shot.  We were unlucky not to have more shots go in, but overall we played well, thanks to those who came to cheer us on.

Final score 9-19

Oxford City Vs Basingstoke Bulls 1
St Greg's, Oxford

Well it was our first match of the season last week and it was a tough one against a very strong Oxford City team.  We scored 9 goals starting with a cracking long shot from Lauren, then Rich following it up with a few nifty goals close to the post, there was a couple of lovely long shots from Steve and Sarah and Margo finished it off with a beautiful mid range shot.  We gave away a ton of penalties though - At least 5 (Vlads writing is a bit hard to read!) and they had a Welsh International player who scored a massive 10 of their goals - take him out and remove the clumsy penalties and we would have won!

We struggled with fitness, I know that personally in attacks I struggled and think that several of us did.  It was a tough little match to start the season with, but hopefully next time we play them we will be better prepared and be able to beat them.

Final Score:  Basingstoke 9 - 23 Oxford City

Margo (1) Sarah (2) Steve (2) Lauren (1) and Rich (3)
